Our first morning milking was mingled with confusion and thoughts of wondering like "I can't believe I'm out here at 6:oo am ." When I'm used to laying in bed with my dear hubby and drinking a cup of Java..Here both of us were this morning in the stall of our goats..Scott holding up our goat so I could milk. The knowing look between us that store bought milk might not be so bad. :) I'm not sure all the goat milk in the world is worth the little experience we had this morning.
My dear daughter Taylor who LOVES to sleep until 7:30 also wonders if this quart of white gold is worth it....
In honor of my ancestor's though we will try it again tomorrow morning and hopefully our little Hannah will not have to be held up.....

Hi, it's easier to lean over your goat's back, with her head between your knees. Put your quart jar, I put a cheescloth over the top with the ring holding the cloth and a little indention in the cloth and milk. You may need more than one quart jar. I put the jar under her and milk with one and. I will post pictures today. Just don't laugh, please, at the amount of weight I need to lose for the 5 K. I used to run 3 miles a day, but an accident last year, rock/detached retina/ 5 eye surgeries, and then this year, the baby/loss/hysterectomy, and I am 60 lbs overweight. So anyways, back to the milking, it will get easier in time. I milk a cow to, bu she is dry until she has her calf in July. GOD bless you and I hope you enjoy your milking time. I sure do.
And what did everyone think about the milk? did they like it??
Julie
Ok, let me ask a silly question...are you located in Houston? I just wondered from the title.
